Angling: Licensing
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what savings her Department has made to communications and marketing spending by cancelling the Environment Agency Fishing Licence Marketing Campaign since July 2024.
Answered by Stephen Morgan
Following a Government wide review of campaigns with over 100k spend, it was communicated in September 2024 that the EA fishing licence campaign would not continue in 25/26. At this point the campaign's marketing budget for 24/25 (300k) had already been utilised.
In November 2024, a strategic business case asking for the campaign to be reinstated and requesting budget for 25/26 and 26/27 was submitted to Cabinet Office. Budget of £250,000 per annum was subsequently approved.
