Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 6 July 2026UIN 14515

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of congestion on the M55 corridor on economic growth in Fylde.

Answered by Simon Lightwood

National Highways assessed the current performance and potential future needs of the M55 and surrounding routes as part of its 2023 North Pennines Route Strategy. This assessment was underpinned by a number of strategic objectives, including the need to grow the economy. National Highways’ route strategies will soon be refreshed to inform future investment planning for the strategic road network.
