To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps she is taking to reduce overcrowding on commuter rail services.

The Department expects train operators to plan and operate appropriate capacity in response to expected demand. Department for Transport Operator works with train operating companies to consider measures to address crowding, for example strengthening services where rolling stock allows, adjusting peak timetables, increasing staff presence on platforms and improving queue and passenger flow management at busy stations.
