To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what recent assessment she has been made of the effectiveness of community policing initiatives in tackling local crime.

A targeted visible police presence, delivered in combination with community engagement and problem-solving is essential to tackling local crime. This is a key element of our Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee (NPG) which will deliver 13,000 additional neighbourhood policing personnel into roles across England and Wales by the end of this Parliament to engage directly with communities.
Drawing on the College of Policing’s 2018 Rapid Evidence Assessment and working collaboratively with policing, we have underpinned the NPG with a clear and evidence-based performance framework - published in April 2025.
