NATO
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment he has made of the potential impact of the Defence Investment Plan on the United Kingdom's abilities to fulfil its NATO commitments.
Answered by Louise Sandher-Jones
The Defence Investment Plan (DIP) implements our ‘NATO First’ approach. It places NATO requirements and interoperability at the heart of UK capability planning and has been developed to deliver the optimal UK contribution into NATO’s warfighting plans. We will invest in the capabilities the UK is best placed to deliver, underpinning the UK’s central role in deterrence and defence.
The decisions we have taken will ensure the UK’s readiness for the future fight, whilst sustaining our contribution to NATO operations and deterrence activity.
