Uncrewed Systems

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 10 July 2026UIN 15075

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, page 26, under which projects or programmes will the rapid development and production of uncrewed ground vehicles commence.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Defence Investment Plan outlined £150 million to commence a programme to rapidly develop and produce uncrewed vehicles for the Army, through UK industry. This will capitalise on, and accelerate, the hitherto industry-led research & development of heavy and medium uncrewed ground vehicles.

Thereafter, other Land programmes may begin to draw on this uncrewed ground vehicle development, hence the importance of generating versatility. Work to determine the precise platforms is ongoing.
