Public Appointments: Business Interests
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the answer of 20 March 2026, to Question 119894, on Gambling Commission: Managers, if he will make it his policy to ask the Civil Service Commission to review the business appointment provisions of (a) the Gambling Commission and (b) other public sector regulators.
Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds
The Government currently has no plans to ask the Civil Service Commission to do so.
The independent Civil Service Commission regulates recruitment into the Civil Service, and provides advice under the Business Appointment Rules for civil servants at SCS Pay Bands 3 and 4 and special advisers at Pay Band 4.
