Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 10 July 2026UIN 15531

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what is the a) cost, b) 2025/26 cost and c) 2026/27 budget for Dreadnought.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The 2015 National Security Strategy and Strategic Defence and Security Review, under the previous government, estimated that to build four Dreadnought submarines, the likely cost would be £41 billion. The current forecast to completion remains within that estimate.

I am withholding information for individual financial years on the grounds of national security.
