UK Town of Culture
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what estimate she has made of the total cost of the UK Town of Culture 2028 competition, including (a) prize funding, (b) development grants, (c) administration and (d) assessment costs.
Answered by Ian Murray
In launching the UK Town of Culture competition, the government announced that each of the shortlisted towns will receive £60,000 to help deliver full bids for competition, the winner will receive a £3 million prize; and two runners up will receive £250,000.
The competition is still underway and so the administration and assessment costs are yet to be determined.
