Minerals: Production
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, with reference to the Department for Business and Trade's press release entitled UK to secure critical minerals boosting economic resilience and cutting reliance on imports, published on 22 June 2026, what metrics will be used to assess the success of the programme.
Answered by Chris McDonald
The Department will monitor delivery of the Critical Minerals Programme through indicators designed to assess progress towards strengthening UK critical minerals supply chains. These include measures of domestic production and processing capacity, volumes of critical minerals produced and processed in the UK, levels of private investment leveraged, jobs supported, and the number and scale of critical minerals projects progressing through commercialisation and scale-up. The Department will also monitor broader indicators of domestic capability and supply chain resilience, including participation of UK firms across critical minerals value chains and diversification of supply sources.
