Minerals: Production

Asked by James McMurdockIndependentDepartment for Business and TradeTabled Answered 10 July 2026UIN 15891

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, with reference to the Department for Business and Trade's press release entitled UK to secure critical minerals boosting economic resilience and cutting reliance on imports, published on 22 June 2026, what assessment he has made of the potential impact of the Demand Aggregation Platform on costs for UK manufacturers.

Answered by Chris McDonald

The Demand Aggregation Platform will consolidate and clarify UK industry demand for critical minerals, to support industry to access supply and to help to win investment. We have been engaging closely with industry to understand how this platform can best provide value to industry users. We will continue to engage with industry as part of developing the platform in line with the scope published on 22 June, and welcome ongoing feedback from UK manufacturers.
