To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what steps she is taking to help ensure that the UK has a sovereign quantum computing capability.

The Government is taking action to ensure that the next generation of quantum computers are developed, built and deployed in the UK and secure the jobs, growth and strategic advantage it will bring to the country.
In March, we announced a package worth up to £2 billion for quantum technologies, including over £1 billion over the next four years to support companies, researchers, skills and infrastructure, alongside a world first commitment of up to a further £1 billion to procure large-scale quantum computers by the early 2030s.
Our approach is designed to help quantum companies start, grow and stay in the UK, anchor investment and high-value activity here, and create the conditions for large-scale quantum computers to be built and deployed in the UK.
By stimulating both the supply of, and future demand for, quantum computing in the UK, we are strengthening the UK's sovereign quantum computing capability and ensuring that the benefits of this technology are realised here.
