Defence: Investment

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 14 July 2026UIN 16059

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what progress has the Defence Investors’ Advisory Group (DIAG) made since inception.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Defence Investors’ Advisory Group has made strong progress in helping the Ministry of Defence build a more strategic relationship with the finance and investment community.

Since its establishment, the Group has brought senior expertise from venture capital, growth capital, private capital, lending and banking into Defence’s work on investment priorities and private capital mobilisation. Its input has helped shape the development of the Defence Finance and Investment Strategy, including its investor-facing language, priority opportunities, approach to trusted capital, role for public financial institutions and implementation pathway.

The Group is also supporting work to identify and test investable opportunities from the Defence Investment Plan, helping Defence translate capability needs into investment committee ready propositions for the market. This work is supporting an enduring partnership between Defence and private capital, focused on capability, resilience, value for money and economic growth.
