Defence: Job Creation

Asked by Stuart AndersonConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 14 July 2026UIN 16063

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, if he will provide a breakdown by skillset of the 60,000 projected jobs created by the Defence Investment Plan.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Defence Investment Plan is expected to support around 60,000 additional jobs by 2029-30 across the UK, creating opportunities across a broad range of occupations in defence, manufacturing and the wider economy.

Defence is working closely with industry, ADS and Skills England to identify the workforce and skills required to deliver the Plan.

The 2026 Skills England Annual Skills Report and forthcoming Defence Sector Jobs Plan will help identify and address the sector's priority skills requirements.
