The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, whether the £1.7 billion allotted for Chinook Helicopters includes funding the planned future purchases of newer Chinooks or for maintaining the current fleet.

On current plans, the £1.7 billion allocated to Chinook helicopters within Years 1–4 of the Defence Investment Plan includes funding for the current Chinook Programme of Record, covering the in-service fleet, together with the previously approved procurement of 14 Chinook H-47 Extended Range aircraft.
