Military Aircraft: Procurement
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, page 45, how many new training jets will enter service by 2030 within the £360m budget.
Answered by Luke Pollard
The Defence Investment Plan commits £360 million to recapitalise the Jet Training System, including the provision of new aircraft for the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (the Red Arrows). The number of training jets that will enter service by 2030 has not yet been determined. Work is underway to define the detailed requirement, delivery approach and procurement strategy for the Future Jet Training System, which will deliver a modernised training capability for both UK and international fast-jet training.
