Bus Services: West Dorset
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 2 July 2026 to Question 14261, how much funding her Department is providing under the Bus Service Operators Grant to West Dorset; and whether her Department plans to provide ring fenced funding in addition to the funding referenced in the answer for community bus services in West Dorset.

BSOG is paid directly to eligible bus and community transport operators, rather than being allocated by constituency. The Department for Transport does not hold information on the amount of Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) funding provided specifically to West Dorset constituency.
The Department makes available over £240 million per year in BSOG to support bus services across England. In addition, up to £3.8 million per year is available to eligible community transport operators through the scheme and a 60% uplift to community transport claims has been applied until 31 March 2027.
Local Transport Authorities can fund eligible community transport operators through their Local Authority Bus Grant. Dorset County Council, the Local Transport Authority overseeing West Dorset Council, will receive £12m from 2026/27 for the next three year, in addition to the £3.8m received in 2025/26, through the Local Authority Bus Grant.
