The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 2 July 2026 to Question 13942, what estimate she has made of the average cost to an individual of maintaining licences and certifications required to drive a (i) bus and (ii) coach commercially, including (a) driving licence renewal fees, (b) medical examination costs, (c) Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency fees, (d) Driver Certificate of Professional Competence costs not covered by Answer 13942 and (e) other mandatory associated costs.

Further to costs set out in PQ answer 13942, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency does not charge a fee for the renewal of licences to drive buses and coaches. The cost of the medical report which must be submitted with the licence application is a matter for the individual doctor completing the report. The British Medical Association (BMA) provides guidance to doctors on the setting of fees.
