Asked by David ReedConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 13 July 2026UIN 16360

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, on how many occasions Military Aid to the Civil Authorities has been provided in the last 12 months.

Answered by Louise Sandher-Jones

In 2025 Defence delivered 88 Military Aid to Civil Authority (MACA) tasks. In 2026 so far, Defence has delivered 16 MACAs, including assisting during adverse weather events, security and ceremonial support for visits from senior politicians and dignitaries, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal support.

Defence maintains three UK Standby Battalions, keeping 900 service personnel on 24-48 hours' notice to move. These units stand ready nationwide to provide rapid support for resilience and MACA tasks.
