Department for Education: Public Expenditure

Asked by Neil O'BrienConservativeDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 13 July 2026UIN 16512

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the answer of 6 July 2026 to question 14924, what the breakdown is of capital spending in 2024/5 in the category of Other School Funding (Department); and whether any reductions in capital budgets announced in the Defence Investment Plan have been allocated to this spending line.

Answered by Josh MacAlister

The capital spending recorded under the ‘Other School Funding (Department)’ category in Supplementary Estimates 2024/25 was £1,752 million. This is comprised of funding lines, notably the School Rebuilding Programme, and funding to remove reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC), which the department has already confirmed remains unaffected, as well as some smaller spending lines such as investment for the ‘Connect the Classroom’ programme.
