Warships: Unmanned Marine Systems
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to his Department's press release entitled, At least six new air defence warships to defend UK waters and boost shipbuilding, published on 29 June 2026, how much will be spent on the delivery of the Type 92 uncrewed underwater sensing platforms in the (a) current and (b) next Parliament.
Answered by Luke Pollard
Defence will invest at least £1.5 billion over the next four years to begin delivering the Hybrid Navy. £240 million of this is allocated to delivering the first elements of the Hybrid Air Wing. The remainder is all allocated to the Hybrid Fleet, comprising the crewed Common Combat Vessel (CCV) and uncrewed vessels alongside integrating capabilities such as the Maritime Fighting Web. The optimal breakdown of this investment between different types of vessel will now be developed in consultation with industry.
