Rescue Services: Pay
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what changes have been made of the remuneration of coastguards in the last 12 months.
Answered by Keir Mather
In the past 12 months, the MCA have made two changes in hourly remuneration:
- Increasing the rate remunerated to Coastguard Rescue Officers (CROs) effective the 1 October 2025 from £11.44 to £12.21 per hour.
- Increasing the rate remunerated to Station Officers (SOs) effective the 1 October 2025 from £13.76 to £14.68 per hour.
Station Officers are Coastguard Rescue Officers who undertake additional activities as part of the response by Coastguard Rescue Teams and receive enhanced remuneration.
