Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for Energy Security and Net ZeroTabled Answered 15 July 2026UIN 16642

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what assessment his Department has made of cybersecurity risks associated with the increased use of digital technologies by the Office for Nuclear Regulation.

Answered by Michael Shanks

ONR is continuing to increase its use of digital technologies to improve efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery. The cyber security of the civil nuclear sector, the ONR, including its digital technologies, is a departmental priority.

In line with the high standards of cyber security DESNZ expects across the civil nuclear sector, the ONR maintains a robust cyber security regime based on established Government standards and accredited by the National Cyber Security Centre.
