International Telecommunication Union

Asked by Adam JogeeLabourDepartment for Science, Innovation and TechnologyTabled Answered 17 July 2026UIN 17144

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what recent discussions she has had with the International Telecommunication Union on the work of her Department.

Answered by Kanishka Narayan

The UK regularly engages with the International Telecommunication Union. We actively participate in its work, and we are an elected member of its governing body, the ITU Council.

Most recently, on 7 July, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, my hon. Friend the Member for Feltham and Heston (Seema Malhotra), met with the ITU Secretary-General in Geneva and discussed a range of issues relating to the ITU’s important agenda.
