The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, what the budget for the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme is over the Spending Review period.

Answered by Chris McDonald

Based on current assumptions, the budget for the British Industrial Competitiveness scheme is expected to be around £600 million on average per annum. These estimates are subject to consumption forecasts.

The scheme will be funded through a combination of changes within the energy system (such as those recently made to inflation indexation of RO/FITs), removal of Carbon Price Support from April 2028 and Exchequer funding.
