Typhoon Aircraft
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what upgrades are required for Typhoons to sustain them into the 2040s.
Answered by Luke Pollard
I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 10 July 2026 to Question 15532 to the hon. Member for Huntingdon (Mr Obese-Jecty):
The Typhoon Long Term Evolution (LTE) programme is the ongoing programme to sustain and progressively enhance the Typhoon force so that it remains operationally relevant into the 2040s and can continue to meet the UK's air defence and combat air requirements. LTE is not a single procurement programme or discrete capability upgrade. Rather, it provides the framework through which future upgrades and enhancements to the Typhoon force will be considered, prioritised and delivered over time to maintain operational effectiveness, interoperability with allies, and the aircraft’s relevance against evolving threats.
