Warships: Antisubmarine Warfare
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, paragraph 48, over what timescale will a) Type 92 and b) Type 93 join the fleet to enhance anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
Answered by Luke Pollard
The Defence Investment Plan announced at least £1.3 billion investment in the Hybrid Navy Fleet, comprising uncrewed missile platforms (Type 91), uncrewed underwater sensing platforms (Type 92), extra-large uncrewed underwater vessels (Type 93), uncrewed radar platforms (Type 94) and a future class of Common Combat Vessel (CCV).
We are already introducing elements of the Hybrid Navy today with the Type 90 series due in the early 2030s, but no specific Service Entry dates have yet been set for these platforms.
