Armed Forces: Driving Tests
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, if he will guarantee that planned reductions in civil service headcount in his Department will not result in a reduction in the number of Defence Driving Examiners available to conduct military driving tests.
Answered by Mr Calvin Bailey
There are currently no plans to reduce the number of Civil Service Defence Driving Examiners. Since April 2026, all Defence Driving Examiner posts have been established as full-time Civil Service roles, enabling Service personnel to remain focused on their primary operational duties.
The Department will continue to ensure that Defence driving test capacity is maintained to meet operational requirements.
