Blue Badge Scheme
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of introducing statutory guidance to local authorities that anyone with a chronic and progressive condition should not be reassessed for a Blue Badge.
Answered by Simon Lightwood
Whilst there is no provision in legislation to publish statutory guidance on assessment of progressive and chronic conditions, the Blue Badge Digital Service provides local authorities with the option to mark cases as ‘not needing an evidence review’. This option means that future applications may be assessed without the necessity for an applicant to provide evidence previously submitted, to facilitate an easier and less time-consuming process.
