Chorley and South Ribble Hospital: Accident and Emergency Departments

Asked by Mr Paul FosterLabourDepartment of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 15 July 2026UIN 901014

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps his Department is taking to help support the 24-hour opening of the accident and emergency department at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.

Answered by James Murray

I know how important access to emergency services is to local people in Chorley and South Ribble. Decisions on local emergency department configuration are for the NHS locally, and I welcome the fact that Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and the ICB are developing plans following a feasibility study into a potential 24-hour service. I can assure my hon. friend we will be keeping a close eye on how those plans progress.
