Weapons: Procurement

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 20 July 2026UIN 18788

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, High Readiness Forces, what projects fall within the scope of investment in personal weapons referred to.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The continued investment referred to in the Defence Investment Plan is the replacement personal weapon system for the Army under Project GRAYBURN which 16 air Assault Brigade will receive alongside the remainder of the Army. This is in addition to the specialist personal weapons procured for the Commando Force and Rangers, which are now covered by full support contracts. These will be combined with the enhanced generation of surveillance and target acquisition equipment that are critical to increasing lethality.
