Armed Forces: Communication
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, High Readiness Forces, what is the full scope of CAIN.
Answered by Luke Pollard
Project CAIN is delivering a tactical communications and information system for 16 Air Assault Brigade, the core of the UK's Global Response Force. It will provide a rapidly deployable, resilient and high-capacity communications network to support command and control, situational awareness, information exchange and connectivity during very high readiness operations.
The initial capability is based on elements of the proven UK Commando Force Project EVE system, adapted to meet the operational requirements of 16 Air Assault Brigade.
