Armoured Fighting Vehicles: Ballistic Missile Defence
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the Answer of 13 July 2026 to question 16165 on Ballistic Missile Defence, what progress has he made in delivering a short range air defence solution mounted on the Common Armoured Vehicle System.
Answered by Ministry of Defence
Defence continues to develop options for a future Short Range Air Defence (SHORAD) capability with the Common Armoured Vehicle System informing the current planning assumptions. The SHORAD programme is considering lessons identified from contemporary conflicts and the evolving threat posed by uncrewed air systems. This work is separate to the UK’s Ballistic Missile Defence Capability.
