To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to paragraph 26 on page 63 of his Department's Defence Investment Plan, published 30 June 2026, how his Department will measure whether the UK is the best place to export from and the most attractive country in the world to grow a defence business.

The Defence Investment Plan sets out the Government’s ambition for the United Kingdom to be the best place to export from and the most attractive country in the world to grow a defence business. Progress towards this ambition will be assessed through a range of indicators, including defence export performance, levels of private sector investment in the UK defence sector, business engagement with Defence, the participation of SMEs in the defence supply chain, and industry feedback on the effectiveness and accessibility of Defence procurement. These measures will help inform the Department’s assessment of progress and identify areas for further improvement.
