Asked by Apsana BegumLabourHome OfficeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 19478

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to question 10230 answered on 16 June 2026, whether the a) equalities impacts assessments and b) outcomes resulting from the National Physical Laboratory review of Home Office Facial Age Estimation testing will be published upon completion.

Answered by Home Office

The policy on facial age estimation is still being developed, and the Home Office is currently undertaking rigorous testing and trialling of the technology throughout 2026. Subject to the results of the testing and trials, FAE is planned to be rolled out from 2027. In line with the public sector equality duty, equalities impacts are being fully considered. No decisions have been made regarding publication of documents.
