Local Government: Cambridgeshire

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeDepartment for Business, Innovation, Science and TradeTabled Answered 2 September 2026UIN 19560

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, what discussions his department has had with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government om Local Government Reorganisation in Cambridgeshire.

Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade

The Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) engages regularly with colleagues across government on a range of matters, including Local Government Reorganisation. This is particularly the case in Cambridgeshire, where BIST's ongoing commitment to the OxCam Growth Corridor (of which Cambridgeshire is a critical part), ensures we have been closely connected and contributing to Local Government Reorganisation in the County. In line with the practice of successive administrations, details of internal discussions are not routinely disclosed.
