The question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the answer of 15 July 2026, to Question 8632, on UK Relations with EU: Contributions, in what way will HM Government’s contributions to the EU which are outside those of the pre-July 2024 Withdrawal Agreement be reported and accounted for; and whether the future EU Finances Statements will include payments relating to Erasmus+ and other new EU schemes that the UK has joined since July 2024.

HM Government’s contributions to the EU are treated as standard government expenditure and are reported and accounted for in the relevant departmental accounts.
The European Union Finances Statement reports on HM Treasury’s contributions to the EU under the Financial Settlement, reflecting the historical treatment of these payments outside the normal spending framework. Payments to the EU for other purposes, including those related to the UK’s association with certain EU programmes under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, will continue to be reported through the responsible department’s accounts.
