EU Budget: Contributions
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, with reference to the answer of 19 June 2026 to Question 8541 on UK Relations with the EU: Contributions, whether taxpayers will in principle be required to make additional payments to the European Union as a consequence of affiliating to the European Innovation Council Fund and Scaleup Europe Fund; and what is the timetable for a final decision on affiliation.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
The UK Government has agreed to negotiate with the European Commission on potential participation in the equity instruments of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, including the Scaleup Europe Fund. Whilst negotiations are ongoing we are unable to provide updates. Any decision will be subject to agreeing terms that represent fair value and support UK innovation and growth objectives.
