Government Departments: Data Protection
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether her Department has issued guidance on GDPR and the publication of the political activity of Direct Ministerial Appointments.
Answered by Cabinet Office
The Cabinet Office has not issued specific guidance on how the requirements under GDPR affect Direct Ministerial Appointments. The application of GDPR to data they control is an individual departmental responsibility, and each department has their own Data Protection Officer to advise on the appropriate policy interpretation of their statutory responsibilities. The responsibility for the publication of information on Direct Ministerial Appointments also rests with individual sponsor departments.
