The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, whether his Department holds data protection guidance on whether the declared political activity of (a) Direct Ministerial Appointments and (b) regulated public appointments can be published.

Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade

The Department handles personal information including declarations of political activity in accordance with GDPR best practice. For direct ministerial appointments, personal information including political activity is protected, in line with this guidance. For regulated public appointments, the Governance Code on Public Appointments sets out that any significant political activity declared by a successful candidate is published when an appointment is announced.
