Business Rates: Tax Allowances
The question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to the written statement of 23 July 2026, HLWS301, on Business Rates Relief for Pubs, Clubs and Live Music Venues, whether he will consult on the review of reliefs for businesses that do not make a positive contribution to local communities; and whether he has made an assessment of the potential impact of differential business rates on types of Retail, Hospitality and Leisure businesses on the numbers of empty shops and premises.
Answered by Treasury
This Government is determined to revive our high streets and ensure they are vibrant places to visit. This means cracking down on businesses that are harming our high streets. Further detail will be set out at the Budget, following careful consideration of the impact of different policy options on different types of businesses.
