Aarhus Convention
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, pursuant to the answer of 19 March 2026, to Question 118760, on Aarhus Convention, whether changes to the implementation of the Aarhus Convention will be permitted under the proposed EU Single Market Electricity Agreement.
Answered by Cabinet Office
The UK is a Party to the Aarhus Convention and is committed to meeting our obligations under international law. Any future electricity trading agreement would be implemented consistently with the UK's domestic legal framework and international obligations. As negotiations on a future electricity trading agreement with the EU are ongoing, we do not comment on the detail of live discussions.
