Organised Crime

Asked by Sir James CleverlyConservativePrime MinisterTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 20422

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with reference to the No10 press release entitled PM orders crackdown on the criminal gangs profiting from illegal waste and blighting communities, of 19 August 2026, whether additional funding is being provided to (a) police, (b) regulators and (c) local authorities.

Answered by Prime Minister

The Prime Minister's announcement of 19 August 2026 strengthens the Government's response to waste crime, including by providing the Environment Agency with additional powers to support it in fulfilling its regulatory and enforcement duties. The package also provides funding to support the development of Regional Waste Crime Partnerships, bringing together local authorities, regulators, police and other partners to coordinate action against waste crime.
