Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office: Civil Servants

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeForeign, Commonwealth and Development OfficeTabled Answered 7 September 2026UIN 20591

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, further to the FCDO Annual Report and Accounts 2025-26, HC521, of 16 July 2026, page 89, for what reason the Staff Advisory Board was dissolved, and what role will the trade unions have in the revised platform.

Answered by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

The Staff Advisory Board was dissolved as part of wider changes to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's (FCDO) corporate governance arrangements in September 2025. A revised approach to staff engagement is being considered to ensure staff views continue to inform decision-making and governance across the department. The role of trade unions in any future arrangements has not yet been determined.
