Lord Mandelson

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeForeign, Commonwealth and Development OfficeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 20632

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, if he will make an assessment of any potential conflict of interest associated with the former US Ambassador and companies referenced in the investments announced during US state visit in September 2025.

Answered by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

I refer the Honourable Member to the Government's statement and release of information on 1 June, providing an update on the response to the Humble Address, and the answers given by the former Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister in response to questions during the General Debate on 3 June.

There is an established regime in place for the management of interests held by Ambassadors or High Commissioners. This ensures that steps are taken to avoid or mitigate any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.
