Royal Family: Funerals

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 20738

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether her Department planned an Operation Bridge for the then Duke of York, or made other preparations under a security alias; and if she will set out how state funeral arrangements apply to those who are no longer members of the Royal Family.

Answered by Cabinet Office

The Royal Household is responsible for funeral arrangements for members of the Royal Family, assisted by the Government in the delivery of plans as needed. State funerals are not anticipated for members of the Royal Family except for the Sovereign.
