Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade: Equality
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, pursuant to the answer of 8 July 2026, to Question 14625, on DSIT: Equality, and with reference to DSIT's equality objectives from 2026 to 2030, published on 29 June 2026, what consideration was made of implementing the policy conclusions of the Professor Sullivan Report, Independent review of data, statistics and research on sex and gender, March 2025, in the revised objectives; and whether the 2026-27 review is considering this matter for the purposes of the updated guidance.
Answered by Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade
Former DSIT developed Equality Objectives using internal workforce data and digital function data across government to identify underrepresentation by grade and profession. Former DSIT records diversity data in alignment with Cabinet Office and overall Civil Service requirements to produce workforce statistics.
Due to Machinery of Government Changes former DSIT has no planned updates to PSED guidance at the current time. We are working with Cabinet Office, BIST and DCMS to understand how our current PSED objectives will transition into the new departments and what guidance will apply in these organisations.
