Origin Marking: EU Law

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 20973

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what assessment has been made of the potential impact on trade of new Made in Europe requirements; and whether the UK Government will respond with similar measures in relation to EU exports to the UK.

Answered by Cabinet Office

We are working closely with industry to understand the potential impact of EU proposals under its Made in Europe policy. We have been clear with the EU that as a close economic partner we should work together to tackle common challenges and not create barriers to trade. Our supply chains are highly integrated and maintaining trade in strategic sectors benefits both the UK and EU to achieve our economic objectives.
