CNOOC: North Sea

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeDepartment for Energy Security and Net ZeroTabled Answered 8 September 2026UIN 21023

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, pursuant to the answer of 10 July 2026, to Question 15239, on Wind Power, what assessment has been made of the level of involvement by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation in the North Sea.

Answered by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero

We cannot comment on assessments into individual companies, but ownership and involvement in the UK energy sector is subject to the highest level of national security scrutiny.

We work very closely with industry and across government to maintain a detailed picture of foreign involvement in energy infrastructure.
