Prime Minister: Special Advisers
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the Politico article entitled The British Prime Minister’s New Digs, 21 August 20256, for what reason a non-media special adviser was authorised to speak to the media and be directly attributed; and whether non-media special advisers in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will be authorised to give additional attributed interviews to journalists.
Answered by Cabinet Office
The Special Adviser Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and requirements of Special Advisers' engagement with the media. The Special Advisers’ Transparency Guidance available on GOV.UK provides further details of requirements for reporting of meetings with senior media figures.
